I came across a blog about a young British product designer called Scott Hobbs, who is just finishing his 4th year at Dundee Uni and has already come up with a new take on the turntable as part of a project called ‘Sensing Sounds’…seems like from this showing that he’s the sort of guy that will come up with some pretty amazing things in his designing career.
He has taken the record…and the traditional turntable out of the equation…and he’s replaced them with a pair of touch sensitive screens that visually give you a waveform of the tracks being played. You look at the screen and SEE the beats. In my none DJ-ing head this would make it a lot simpler to match beats, but whether it would be easier…ask someone that can play
You can find his video’s by clicking the link on his name…check them out

For those of you who missed it…for those of you who are new readers…and for those of you who can’t be bothered to delve into the relatively small archives of the RISE blog…
I’m again blowing the trumpet of KEYSNKRATES…simultaneously representing the raw soul of live instrumentation and the progressive technology of electronic music, KEYSNKRATES are officially here to bridge the gap.
Previously having toured the globe on individual musical conquests, group frontmen DJ Jr. Flo and eclectic soul musician Matisse are collectively reinterpreting and breathing new life into both classic and contemporary Hip Hop and Electronic music.
The self proclaimed “Live Remix” artists are something to be both seen and heard.
