Re-launched for the first time in more than 30 years is the 455, an original 1979 trail shoe that has been updated with modern materials and sophisticated color blocking for spring/summer 2009.

Designed and manufactured in New Balance’s factory in Flimby, England (WOOOOOOOO!), the 455 has a three layer lugged outsole capable of dispersing shock and offering excellent traction-a lot of bells and whistles that stem from the fact that this was an actual award-winning trail shoe more than 30 years ago. The 455 was the trail shoe of its day and today remains a classic.

The 455 is finally available stateside for both men and women on Zappos.com and is available in six colorways including: grey/turquoise/navy, brown/salmon/red, beige/lemon (pictured), blue/red, brown/mustard and grey/red. See the other 5 colorways

Proper has just gotten in the New Balance Gore-Tex MT580 Collection that features a line up of solid uppers that is made with weather proof gore-tex material.  I’m going to take a wild guess and say the neon joints will be the most popular of the bunch.

The first release from New Balance’s Globabl Partnership Program, is this Collaboration with Alife on the 1300 series. All 3 sneakers feature suede and mesh and come in a variety of teal, grey and white colorways. This will be available in extremely limited quantities in Malaysia and Singapore. [soleredemption]

Atmos Japan have just made the New Balance WRC576P Tonal Pack available in 3 tonal colorways. These shoes are constructed of suede, leather, and nylon. I was suprised when I saw these bad boys, I am not usually a fan of the normal swathe of New Balance’s that we see, but I love these. Possibly because I am a huge fan of high-tops at the moment. The minimal but effective use of materials and the single tone colours just scream YES to me. Bit thumbs up on these New Balance.

The New Balance 1300’s that were originally made here in good ol’ England have now made the trip across the pond to the shelves of US retailers. The three colorways feature suede and grey mesh uppers on top of crackle print midsoles. With the value of the pound falling faster than freefall, these should be dirt cheap over in the US compared to the price they were on release over here…

Not long ago, we preview the collaboration between DDCLAB and New Balance on the recently reintroduced NB 420 model. While the original date of the release was November 6th, during the official opening party for DDCLAB SoHo, the party was filled to capacity making purchases nearly impossible. We have just learned from DDCLAB that this limited edition sneaker will release tomorrow November 14th at DDCLAB in SoHo.

The Reflective 420 was created in collaboration with design house, DDCLA, spearheaded by DDCLAB co-owners and recently-named NB Lifestyle Creative Directors, Savania Davies-Keiller and Roberto Crivello. The limited edition shoes features a reflective textile made by a thin layer of tiny glass beads that cooperate with a reflective agent. This Schoeller Switzerland made fabric is scuff and tear resistant, water and dirt repellent and is used on the entire shoe’s upper for the first time. Each pair will be packaged in a special water repellent coated lycra dust bag that will be numbered for authenticity and signed by both of New Balance’s Creative Directors, Savania Davies-Keiller and Roberto Crivello.

New Balance and Almond have worked together before but not to this extent. Presenting the Almond x New Balance 574 which was made with the focus of meeting the creativity of the wearer. I said creativity because there are some parts of the shoe which are customizable. The upper can be modified because there are velcro patches which you can clip depending on your mood. The heel area is also a no escape and can be modified with velcro patches. The shoes’ other features include premium black leather and a speckled midsole. This collaboration is also in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the 574 model. The sneaker’s upper portion consists of Velcro, the majority of the body is constructed of high-quality/premium leather, and it also rocks a mid-sole. These bad boys are going to retail at around $258.
